Welcome to United Way’s newest member agency -- the Haywood Volunteer Center. With the sluggish economy, volunteers are a valuable resource to fill agency needs. The Volunteer Center is a Mountain Projects program and relies upon fundraising exclusively for its financial support.

Day of Caring is the official kickoff of the United Way annual campaign. This effort began in 1997 with 15 projects and 75 volunteers. Last year, 57 projects were completed by 430 volunteers. The mission is to improve the quality of life for the elderly and disabled residents by improving safety and living conditions in their homes.
